Who We Are

At Sierra Nevada Off Road Academy, we believe off-roading is for everyone. Whether you’re driving a classic Jeep or a brand new electric 4x4, you’re welcome here. We’re a friendly crew of off-road enthusiasts who blend decades of experience with a passion for exploration—and we can’t wait to show you the ropes.

Our Philosophy

For us, the adventure isn’t just about finding epic trails—it’s about building skills, respecting the wild places we explore, and making every ride unforgettable. Our instructors are Tread Lightly! certified, and together we bring more than 45 years of teaching and 60 years of off-road driving wisdom to every class. We care about fostering a community that’s inclusive and EV-friendly—so you’ll always feel at home with us, no matter your vehicle or background.

Meet Your Instructors

Jason Green grew up pushing boundaries behind the wheel—from his first trail run in a ‘74 CJ5 to extreme rock buggies and high-speed desert runs. He’s a hands-on mentor fueled by curiosity and community, always eager to share what it takes to turn the impossible into possible. Jason’s also the voice behind the “Wheeling, Wine and Whiskey” podcast, inspiring off-roaders everywhere.

CJ Arnesen found his off-road spirit as a kid—guiding his dad’s car through snow and wrenching on Jeeps long before he could drive solo. Whether reviving vintage Willys or testing the latest electrics, CJ lives at the crossroads of tradition and innovation. He’s passionate about helping others discover the thrill of the journey and the joy of off-road camaraderie.
